Kirksey

Kirksey is an architectural design firm specializing in architecture, interior design, master planning and sustainable design & consulting, Kirksey has rapidly expanded in the national and global marketplaces. What began as a small commercial architecture firm in 1971 has evolved into a diverse organization of 11 focused practice groups - Commercial, Community/Religious, Country Clubs & Spas, Education, Government, Healthcare, Hospitality, Interior Architecture, Laboratory/Industrial, Residential, and Retail - each supported by departments of design, eco-services (kirkseyGREEN(TM)), technology and marketing.

It is this diversity of project types that allows us to provide our clients full architectural design services carried out by experts whose knowledge and talents best match our clients' business strategies and objectives. With this team-based approach, every architectural design project benefits from individual expertise while leveraging the collective knowledge of the entire firm.

An Archicad customer since 1998, Kirksey has long reaped the benefits of using virtual building technology throughout its scope of work on projects from hospitality to K-12 education. The technologically-advanced, 115-person firm recently standardized on Graphisoft's Archicad, and now uses the software to design all new projects.

Webcast: Integrating Design & Construction: Case Study Featuring Kirksey and the Award-Winning Westway Park Office Building Project

Date: Jan. 30, 2007
Presenters: Kirksey Architecture
In June, Kirksey was awarded the 2006 Building Information Model Award for "Inspirational Pilot Project" by the AIA Technology in Architectural Practice (TAP) Knowledge Community. The Firm's winning submission, the Satterfield & Pontikes Westway Office Building in Houston, was designed and modeled using Graphisoft's Virtual Building? solutions, including ArchiCAD®, Constructor and Estimator. Project Background Because Kirksey is already committed to a model-based design approach with ArchiCAD, Satterfield & Pontikes initiated the integration between the two firms so they could work together to establish a BIM-based, replicable manufacturing process across the various stages of project programming, design and construction. By structuring the project around a design-build team consisting of the owner, general contractor, architect, structural engineer, MEP and selected subcontractors, ArchiCAD's 3D modeling tools were used to better coordinate, communicate, document and construct the three-story office building. Attend this free webcast and:

  • Learn how the use of Virtual Building (BIM) technology solutions is giving Kirksey a winning competitive advantage
  • See how a model-based approach to the Westway project helped improve visualization, coordination, analysis, documentation and more.
  • Learn tips for successful implementation of Virtual Building technology solutions.
  • Participate in a live Q&A session with the Kirksey team at the conclusion of the webcast presentation.
